There is nothing - absolute nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing-about in boats

Hi all,
New here. Came across this site while looking for places to post an ad for a Norwalk Island Sharpie 23 I will be selling. I realized, however, that people here are really more interested in building boats than in buying them - and "All the more power to'm", sez I.  Very Happy  Still, I may, eventually, get around to putting an ad in the Classifieds here: we'll see. Meanwhile, for those who have an interest in the NIS's and who are perhaps contemplating building one, I built mine twelve years ago, and, although my memory of the process is fading a bit, I'll be happy to answer questions as best I can. If you'd like to see what he (it's a HE not a SHE because his name is Kermit) looks like, I have some pictures of the boat  on Photobucket: http://s151.photobucket.c...%20Sharpie%2023/?start=40
Cheers.

Ray,
That's a good idea. Trouble is, with the load of wet white stuff we got last night, I can't get out of my driveway. I'll see what things look like towmorrow, but I doubt I'll get around to going to Portland and get there in time by the time I'm through clearing a path. Maybe next year, meanwhile I can still put something on Hamilton's board.  What a  pity to have this weather for the Boat Builders Show. I hope it won't hurt attendance too much, but I fear it will.

Beautiful boat!  Why are you selling?

Thanks, Jeff. Well, as polite folk say, I'm getting on in years, i.e. I'm an O.F. who is slowing down and who has to make choices among an excess of hobbies, projects, and just plain chores, if he is going to be able to enjoy any of them, or just plain get them done.
I had a great time building Kermit, and a ball sailing him, but lately I 've been skipping the occasional season because I ran out of time getting him ready, clearing op winter damage to the property, and getting my 1962, Volvo PV544 ready for the road. Maine summers are notoriously short. So, something has to give, and if Kermit goes to someone who will get more use out of him than I, I'll feel less guilty about having that nice boat hanging on his mooring while I'm busy elsewhere.
Cheers,
Bob

Ray,
So as not to inject more crass commercialism  Wink  into this forum, I'll send you an e-mail.

Bob, you can state the price if you've settled on it.  We aren't that picky around here with people who stop and contribute.  You can also post a "for sale" post in the Classifieds forum if you like.

Thanks, Frank. That's a pretty liberal policy. The idea of selling Kermit is still pretty new to me, and when I have a clearer idea of what the market for these boats is and what price I can ask, I'll post in the Classifieds and post a notice here that I did so.
Cheers,
Bob
