There is nothing -- absolute NOTHING -- half so much worth doing
as simply messing-about in boats.

I am anxious to see how the EC does with the spinaker on the retractable bowsprit.  I hope that there are enough simularities to the Core Sound boats to integrate/modify an existing boat for the bowsprit and spinaker.  Maybe its just my previous experience, but I find it easier to handle the bowsprit rigged spinaker than a stays'l when single handing.  Besides, it gives you a great ramming rod out front.  Shocked

Yes Joe, one of reasons I am doing this project is to push the envelope as much as I can so that we all can learn what works and what does not.

Joe,  I am sure the bowsprit spinaker or screecher will work great on the CS.  Putting all that sail area out front will change how the boat balances, but I doubt that will be a big deal on a deep reach.  This could quickly get into some radical sail area - wild wet ride.

Modifying an existing CS -  why not.

As far as the sprits'l goes, I have found that as my experience with the sail increases I fly it more often.  When I first started it seemed like a lot to handle singlehandling, but it flys often now when the wind is right.  I find it lots less of a hassle than single handling the spinaker on my previous boat.
